Karen Ann King, age 42 of Barbourville, Kentucky departed this life on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at her home. She was born on April 26, 1983 in Pineville, Kentucky, the daughter of Dianne (Morris) Simpson and William Arvin Simpson.
Karen was a registered nurse, having earned her Bachelor’s Degree. She worked for several years at Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin. She is preceded in death by her mother Dianne Simpson, a sister, Audrey Simpson, her maternal grandfather, Calvin Morris and her paternal grandparents, William H. and Cora Lee Simpson.
Those left behind to mourn her passing, her son Hayden Alexzander King who was her whole life and reason for living, her loving father, William Arvin Simpson of Heidrick, her devoted sister, Tina Simpson and husband Derrick Slone of Corbin, devoted brother, William Kevin Simpson of Louisville, Grandmother, Lorene Morris of Barbourville, niece Amelia Anne Slone, nephew, Finley Isaiah Slone, her cousin and childhood best friend, Andrea Stewart and her good friend Dora Harper along with many other friends.
Funeral services for Karen will be conducted in the Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Justin Morris officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Simpson Family Cemetery at Heidrick, Kentucky. Pallbearers will be, Josh Gibson, Shane Simpson, Brandon Simpson, Carlos Humfleet, Dustin Morris, Ryan Morris and Derrick Slone. Hampton-Hutton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Steven Morton and Dr. Ariel Szvalb.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m.
