Karen Anne Krupa, of Waterford, passed away on October 25, 2025, at the age of 66. She was born on December 21, 1958, in Detroit, Michigan, to William and Patricia Gottschalk (née Corey).
Karen grew up in Farmington, Michigan, and graduated from Harrison High School in Farmington in 1977. She dedicated her life to caring for animals, serving the Waterford community as a veterinary technician for nearly 30 years. Karen was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family. In 2006, Karen met the love of her life, Michael Krupa, through a mutual friend. With her trademark confidence and warmth, she not only asked Michael out but also proposed to him. The two were married on December 29, 2012, and together shared a life full of laughter, devotion, and adventure. One of Karen's greatest joys was riding her Harley-Davidson alongside Michael, exploring the open road together. Most of all, she fully thrived as an incredibly loving and fun grandmother who had had so much pride, joy and love for her two grandchildren. Karen is survived by her loving husband of almost 13 years, Michael Krupa; her children Jennifer (Justin) Lane and Joseph (Ani) Kassabian; her cherished grandchildren Marley Lane and Wyatt Kassabian; daughter-in-law Shannon Kassabian; siblings Nancy (Frank) Ciccone and Gary (Jennifer) Gottschalk; and her loyal German Shepherd, Chaos. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Mark Kassabian, her brother Karl Gottschalk, and her parents William and Patricia Gottschalk.
A memorial visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Coats Funeral Home – Clarkston (8909 Dixie Hwy). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 10:30 AM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM.
