Nancy Simpson Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Coats Funeral Home - Clarkston on Nov. 1, 2025.
Nancy Sue Simpson, of Royal Oak, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on October 30, 2025 at the age of 93.
She was born on May 14, 1932, in Highland Park, Michigan, to Carter and Opal Robertson. Nancy was the baby of the family to her sister, Jimmie Bailey (Marshal), and her brother Bill Robertson (MaryAnna). The self-proclaimed "tom boy" frequently and lovingly recalled her days on her grandparents' farm in Kentucky where she could wear overalls and play in the fields for hours.
While attending Highland Park High School, she met the love of her life, Donald James Simpson. From their first date on the Boblo boat until his untimely passing at the age of 63, they were a devoted and inseparable couple. The high school sweethearts were married in England in 1952 where Don was stationed with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
After returning home to Michigan, they built a life centered around faith, family and love. Together, they raised their five children, Christine Simpson; Cindy Doucette (Ray); Donald James Simpson Jr. (Rhonda); Cathleen Solecki (Greg); and Susan Pool (Barry). Their home was always filled with family, friends, laughter and joyful chaos. Summers at North Lake were a big part of the foundation upon which their family identity was built.
Nancy's family grew to include 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Her family will forever be grateful for the guidance, comfort and love she gave so freely. They all enjoyed her impressive ability to vividly recall memories and share stories of each and every one of them.
Nancy's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was a devoted Christian, active in her church community and found great joy in serving others and also teaching Sunday school while her children were young. Her heart for God radiated through everything she did. She led by quiet example, always offering kindness, wisdom and unwavering love to those around her. Nancy's light will continue to shine brightly through the generations she so lovingly raised.
Those who knew Nancy will remember her as a strong and direct woman, deeply committed to moral values. Her legacy is one of faith, love and devotion to family - a beautiful example of a life well-lived. She is also lovingly remembered by CeCe and the staff at Addington Place in Clarkston, who provided wonderful care and compassion during her final months of life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Henry Ford Hospice.
