Karen LaBrecque, 72, of Saco passed away on Thursday, April 17th at Mercy Hospital in Portland after a brief battle with cancer.
Karen was born in Biddeford on July 13, 1952, the daughter of Roland and Maxine Chandler Camire. She was educated in Biddeford schools.
She married Gerard "Jerry" LaBrecque on October 11, 1969 at Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco. Together, they raised two sons, John G. LaBrecque and David A. LaBrecque.
Karen was employed with many food service businesses including Deering Ice Cream, The Lobster Claw Restaurant, IGA supermarket. Her great love was for her Home Interiors Gifts and Decor business which she ran for decades. She loved putting on her home shows and building relationships with her customers.
Karen loved music and dancing and going out on Saturday nights to follow her husband Jerry's band, Spectrum, wherever they performed. She loved Celine Dion's music and enjoyed seeing her in Las Vegas. She enjoyed making her famous triple chocolate cake and macaroni salad which everyone loved. Karen enjoyed family gatherings, had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tease, especially Jerry.
She was predeceased by her parents, Roland and Maxine Camire, her parents in law, Joseph Leopold and Marguerite LaBrecque, her husband Gerard LaBrecque, her son John LaBrecque, her brother Larry Camire, sister-in-law Pauline D. Camire and brother-in-law Richard LaBrecque.
Karen is survived by her son David A. LaBrecque and his companion Crystal Parks, daughter-in-law Shara LaBrecque, grandchildren Alicia LaBrecque, Camden "CJ" LaBrecque, Ryan Fecteau (Dylan Doughty) and Mariah Dunn (Noah), 3 great-grandchildren, siblings Sue Godbout (Guy), Michael Camire (Janet), Roland Camire Jr., Lorraine Burleigh (Robert), Steven Camire (Cathy), John Camire (Shelly) and Nancy Corey (Stephen), brothers and sisters in-law Shirley LaBrecque, Robert (Doris) LaBrecque, Ronald (Marie) LaBrecque and Diane (Kathy Kelley) LaBrecque and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be from 4 to 7 PM Friday, April 25th and 12 to 1 PM Saturday, April 26th at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, Saco followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Saco.
