Karen Vesta Cannon-Nix, age 75, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, in Corsicana, Texas. She was born on August 12, 1949, in Lubbock, Texas to Barbara and L.Z. Cannon.
Karen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She spent her career serving others as an office manager in physician's offices, where her kind and compassionate nature was evident to all who knew her. Karen had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. She also found joy in crafting and sharing her creations with loved ones. Known for her caring heart and understanding spirit, she always made time for those who needed her.
She is survived by her son Ronald Lee Nix; siblings Joyce Markham, Glen Cannon, and Kathy Houston and husband Floyd; grandchildren Suzette Sanchez, Tasha Fink, Halen Bliler and husband David; and great-grandchildren Malachi Al-Yasiri, Mason Al-Yasir, Chance Richards, Alyssa Fink, Addison Eli, Austin Fink, Zoe Sanchez, Cherokee Sanchez, and Harley Sanchez. She is also remembered fondly by close friends Joseph and Susan Engles, Larry and Vicky McElvany II, and Alvin and Debbie.
Karen was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Ronald Dale Nix; her parents; her son Edwin Lloyd Nix; and her granddaughter Jennifer Lee Nix.
Visitation with the family will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Graveside services will take place on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park in Mesquite, Texas, with Bro. Floyd Petersen officiating.
Karen will be remembered for her unwavering love, strength, and the many lives she touched with her warmth and generosity.
