Karen Overberg Obituary

Karen L. Overberg, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away on March 22, 2025, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, at the age of 56. Born on April 16, 1968, in New Albany, Indiana, Karen was an embodiment of love and kindness whose spirit touched everyone she encountered.

Karen dedicated her life to nurturing and educating young minds, working at a daycare where her passion for children shone brightly. She possessed not only the education, having earned an associate degree in child education, but also an innate ability to connect with children, guiding them as they grew and learned. The laughter and joy that filled her classrooms were a testament to her commitment and enthusiasm for fostering creativity through crafts and engaging activities.

Beyond her profession, Karen cherished her time spent with family and friends. She was an avid camper and loved spending time in nature, showcasing her green thumb through her gardening endeavors. Whether it was crafting, cake decorating, or singing in the choir, every moment spent pursuing her hobbies was filled with joy and love, illustrating her vibrant personality. Music and the joyous moments shared with her loved ones were among her greatest loves.

Karen's proudest accomplishments reached far beyond her professional life. She nurtured a strong spiritual connection, attending Park Place Methodist Church in Jeffersonville and Ohio Falls United Methodist Church in Clarksville, where she found community and faith, sharing her kindness with those around her.

She leaves behind her cherished son, Elijah Overberg; daughter, Bridgette (Zach) Klingsmith; and loving grandchildren, Wyatt and Madelynn, who were her greatest joy and pride. Karen is also survived by her dear siblings: brother, Kevin (Jebby) Erdman; sister, Bobbi (Carl) Balmer; and brother, Tommy Erdman. In addition, she will be deeply missed by her several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who felt the warmth of her generosity and compassion.

Preceding her in death are her beloved parents, Robert and Dorothy Erdman, who undoubtedly influenced the caring woman she became.

As we remember Karen L. Overberg, let us celebrate a life that dedicated itself to nurturing others, filling this world with her loving spirit and vibrant energy. Her legacy of kindness, creativity, and unwavering support for those around her will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

It was Karen's wishes to be cremated with a celebration of life at a later date.
