Our beloved wife, mother, sister entered into God's Kingdom on May 14, 2025, at her home in Oberlin, KS.
Karen S. Smith was born on February 13, 1950, in Marienthal, Kansas to Louis and Bertha (Galster) Fetsch.
Karen was employed as an English teacher and Librarian at DCHS Oberlin Kansas for several years. After spending many years as a stay-at-home mom, she went back to teaching as a Head Start Teacher. Karen was a member of the Oberlin Sacred Heart Church. She also volunteered many hours at the Bargain Box in Oberlin.
Karen married Larry E. Smith on October 21, 1978, in Oberlin, KS. They were joined by three children: Christopher, Theresa and Brent.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents; sister in-law, Edna Trulos; brothers-in-law: Lyman Black, Ron Snyder, Mike Trulos, & Charles Pfannenstiel.
Karen is survived by her husband, Larry; sons: Christopher (Anne) Smith, North Vancouver BC, Brent Smith, Raymore, MO; daughter, Theresa (Matt) Fischer, Fredonia, KS.; grandkids: Sean Smith, Eleanor Smith, Lucy Fischer & Walter Fischer; sisters: Marquita Fetsch, Pat (Walt) Rohling and Gloria Pfannenstiel, and many nieces and nephews.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Monday, May 19, 2025, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin, KS at 10:30 AM. Rosary will be Monday, May 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin, KS. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM. Burial will be Oberlin Cemetery. Memorial contribution may be made out to Karen Smith Memorial Fund. Condolence can be left at www.plumergobber.com
