Karen Gail Williams, a beacon of kindness and thoughtfulness in her community, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, at the age of 67 in Joplin, Missouri. Born on September 1, 1957, in Barton County, Missouri, Karen lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her work.
The love story between Karen and her late husband, Ora "Laverne" Williams, was one for the ages. Their shared interests and mutual respect for one another were the foundation of a beautiful partnership. Though Laverne has passed, the legacy of their love continues to live on through their son, Jeffery Williams, and grandson, Caden Williams, both of Lithia, Florida. She is also survived by a brother, Terry Lowe; and a sister, Vickie Kershaw. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Dana and Gene Davis, and a sister Kelly Mitchell.
Karen's professional life was characterized by her dedication and service to others. She took pride in her work, cleaning the Carthage Police Department, where she was not only an employee but a friend to many. Her commitment to her job was a reflection of her overall approach to life-doing everything with excellence and care.
A devout Christian, Karen's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. It was her compass in times of joy and sorrow, and it provided her with strength and comfort. Her church community at Calvary Baptist Church in Carthage was an extension of her family, and she cherished the fellowship and shared worship with her brothers and sisters in faith.
Karen's interests were a mirror of her life's priorities. She found happiness in the simple pleasures-keeping her home tidy, spending time with her family, and cherishing the memories of her beloved Laverne. Her kind and thoughtful nature was evident in every task she undertook and every relationship she nurtured.
Memorial services will be held at 11 am Saturday September 13, 2025 at the Calvary Baptist Church Carthage, Missouri. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date in the Park Cemetery Carthage, Missouri. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Annual Laverne Williams Children's Christmas Party in care of the Knell Mortuary. Online condolences may be expressed through www.knellmortuary.com.
