A memorial service celebrating the life of Karissa Joel McCann Durocher will be held November 16, 2023 at 10:00 am in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home. Karissa passed away after a brief battle with cancer on November 11, 2023. She was 44 years young.
Karissa was born on January 24, 1979 in Alexandria. She graduated from Carencro High School and spent most of her life in the Carencro area. Karissa will be remembered as a kind, loving mother and Mawmaw, She was a fun-loving person that lit up a room when she entered: she was the life of the party. She had a deep passion for music, particularly dancing and karaoke. Beyond that, she enjoyed cooking, had a love for animals, adored the beach, and was a devoted movie enthusiast. One of her favorite things to do was binge-watch movies with her girls. She faced her illness bravely, was strong and independent until the end and never complained. She lived each of her last days to the fullest and never lost her sense of humor.
Karissa cherished her family and they will miss her dearly. She leaves behind her two daughters, Cameron and Chloe Durocher, and bonus daughter Jaden Guidry; her grandchildren Carson and Stacy Marie; parents Michael and Pam McCann of Carencro; siblings, Michael McCann Jr. (Desiree) of Carencro, Marsha Moose (Michael) of Raleigh, NC, Kasey Craig (Caleb) of Pineville, LA., and Blake McCann of Carencro; two dear friends who were like sisters, Ladana Deshotels and Annette Foreman; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will dearly miss her presence.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Lacombe McCann; paternal grandparents, Viola and Ray McCann; and maternal grandparents, Bertha and Horace Lacombe.
The family will receive visitors at Walters Funeral Home on Thursday morning prior to the service between 8:00 - 10:00 am.
Special thanks are extended to Hospice of Acadiana for their compassionate care of Karissa during her final days and to Boutin's Cajun Seafood, Steakhouse, & Oyster Bar for its tremendous support.
