JOHN "T-JUNE" CALVIN MARKS, JR.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 31,2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church for John "T-June" Calvin Marks Jr., 67, who was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 19, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Father Peter Emusa, Pastor will officiate the services. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
John "T-June" was born the first of three children to the late John Calvin Marks, Sr. and Rosella Pratt Marks on June 30, 1958, in
Lafayette, LA. He was baptized at St. Paul's church and regularly attended mass there during his early childhood. He later became an active member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. He received his education at St. Paul's Catholic School (now Holy Family Elementary) and at Carencro High School.
In 1979 John, T-June as he was affectionately known, married Sandra Vallier and to their union were born three children Kaylin, Kendell, and Daeshauna.
A quiet, humble, and deeply reflective man, T-June loved the Lord, his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a friendly, out going, and loving person who enjoyed clowning around while hanging with his friends. T-June loved helping people, fishing, bar-b-queing, dancing, and socializing. For most of his life T-June owned and managed his own lawn service and auto detailing business. He was a master at cutting yards and cleaning cars.
Left with the memory of his being a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, godfather and friend are his wife of 46 years, Sandra Vallier Marks, his daughters Kaylin Marks and Daeshauna Hebert (Jarvis) all from
Lafayette, LA and his son, Kendell Marks, Sr. of
Beaumont, TX; seven grandchildren Artrell Marks, Jatrell Marks, Kyndal Cobb, Sha'Niija Helaire, Kendell Marks, Jr., Journi Hebert, and Jaciee Hebert. T-June is also survived by his sister, Sonya Henry (Jude) of
Lafayette, LA, his aunt, Annie Pratt of Carencro, LA his uncle, Cleveland Pratt of
Oakland, CA, his godmother, Dorothy Mouton of
Lafayette, LA, his godchild, Keithan Mouton of
Lafayette, LA his two best friends, Andrew Williams and Thurston Batiste, both of
Lafayette, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
John was preceeded in death by his parents John Calvin Marks, Sr. and Rosella Pratt Marks, his sister Valerie Marks, his paternal grandparents, McGaffy and Louise Sam, his maternal grandparents, Clayborn and Annie Pratt, his father and mother in law, Alfred and Mercedes Vallier, his godfather, Lee Perry Pratt, and several uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
Active Pallbearers will be Artrell Marks, Jatrell Marks, Miles Bruno, Bomani Henry, Travis Vallier and Perry Washington, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kendell Marks Sr., Jude Henry, Melvin Augustine, Kenneth Vallier, Ricky Smith Sr., Jarvis Hebert, Freddie Vallier, Michael Chaisson, Sr., Perry Washington, Sr., Richard Malveaux, Jr., Andrew Williams and Thurston Batiste.
The family of John "T-June" Marks extends our special thanks to care givers Martha Washington and Freddie Vallier, Dr. Esmond Barker, Cardiologist, Heather Brown from Nursing Specialties, the staff of Acadia Palliative Care, and the ninth floor medical staff at Oschner Lafayette General Hospital.
Visitation will be observed from 7:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
A rosary will be prayed at 9:00a.m. Kinchen Funeral Home located at 1011 North St. Antoine Street,
Lafayette, LA is in charge of the arrangements.
