Obituary published on Legacy.com by Walker Sanderson Funeral Home & Crematory - Orem on Nov. 14, 2025.
Karl Anders Beckstead, born April 11th,1986 in
Orem, Utah to Keith Beckstead and Leila Koehler. He was the oldest of five children with four younger sisters. He graduated from Olympus High School and attended Salt Lake Community College and Utah Valley University.
Karl was creative, incredibly intelligent, and entrepreneurial. He held a variety of positions over the years, and wherever he went, he was valued for his ingenuity. He followed in his dad's footsteps and obtained his real estate appraising license and started his Appraisology and Beckstead Consulting companies. His latest endeavor was his baking creations, SI Baked, inspired by his mother and grandma.
Always a foodie at heart, Karl was an amazing cook who recently discovered a love of baking; he had a chef's touch. He loved strategy, solving problems, and gaming. Karl loved the outdoors; and traveled to Fiji, Alaska, Lake Powell, the Uinta's, to name a few and spent much of his time in the mountains. He was always down for an adventure and often WAS the adventure. Karl was a one-of-a-kind individual with a big, kind heart. He was empathetic and loved to share treats, music, a bad joke, a new game, or a long in-depth intellectual conversation. We loved his funny, sarcastic sense of humor. Fearless and not afraid to break norms and push boundaries (who can forget the pink flip flops?!), he had many iconic looks. If it wasn't his signature flip flops, he had painted nails, an outrageous beard, or dreadlocks.
Karl was married twice and the years he spent with Courtney and their kids were some of his happiest. His children were his whole heart and he loved them immensely. He found great joy in showing them the world by going on hikes, teaching them new games, or other adventures. He greatly valued family and loved spending time and connecting with friends, grandparents, cousins, and family members. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. We will always keep the best of him in our hearts.
Karl, a beloved son, brother, father, and friend, passed away October 29th, 2025 in
Orem, Utah. He is preceded in death by his aunt Linda and uncle Jeffrey. He is survived by his children Charles, Everlee, step children Shawn Mitchell, and Cecily Mae, his parents Keith Beckstead and Leila Koehler, his siblings Jasmine Beckstead (Cody Wilson), Alexis Beckstead, Naomi Wood, and Amelie Beckstead, his niece & nephew, grandparents Merrill & Nanette Beckstead, Leighton & Nancy Kohler, aunts, uncles, and many cousins.
