Karlida Esdale

Karlida Esdale, of Sterling Heights, Michigan, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 9, 2023. She was 84 years old. Karlida is the cherished wife of the late James Esdale; the loving mother of Denise O'Neil, Jamie (Buck) Swanson, Susan (Deek Kent) Esdale, Joe (Joy) Esdale, Gregory Esdale, and Nancy (Mark) Esdale; the adored grandmother of Ryan (Jamie), Richard (Johannah) O'Neil, Trevor, Jacob, Joshua (Melanie), Justin, and Jacob; the beloved great-grandmother of Cora, Liberty, and Ridge and adored sister-in-law to James VanEtten. She was also the dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents, Isom Rogers and Mary Jane Rogers (formerly White), and her siblings, Louana Maxine Rogers, Jerline Rogers, George "Buddy" Rogers, Jimmie (Carol) Rogers, and Shirley VanEtten. Karlida had a strongly rooted faith and a deep connection with her church family at Metro Church of Christ, where she was a longtime member. Karlida made family her priority. She was the heart and soul of her family, and she was very loving and supportive. That love and support extended out to her neighbors as well, not only in her community but in her church too. Karlida also loved to cook. She was raised in the south and she enjoyed cooking southern style dishes. She very much enjoyed her employment and friendships she had at the Valenite Corporation where she spent many years before her retirement.
Karlida's family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the Wm. Sullivan & Son Funeral Home, 8459 Hall Road (3 blocks East of Van Dyke), Utica. Burial at White Chapel Memorial Cemetery, Troy.
