Karon Anliker

The funeral service for Karon Anliker, 87, of Ellendale, ND, will be 1:00pm, Friday, June 21, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church in Ellendale with Rev. Christopher Brademeyer officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, SD. Karon died Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society in Oaks, ND.
Visitation will one hour prior to services at the church.
Karon Anliker was born on August 1, 1936, to Herbert and Martha (Podoll) Neitzel in Aberdeen, SD. She grew up near Barnard, SD and attended school in Barnard, Columbia, SD, and Forbes, ND; before graduating from Forbes High School.
In 1954, Karon married Aurthur Merkel. In 1978, She married Ervin Anliker. Throughout her life, Karon was always doing arts and crafts. She was also an entrepreneur, and owned Karon's Yarn Barn and Wiser Meiser in Leola, SD. She also sold Avon and Stanley and worked at Sears until her retirement. After retiring, Karon moved to Aberdeen.
Karon was a hard worker and stayed busy. She enjoyed growing vegetable gardens and often canning the produce. She also loved flowers and had a beautiful flower garden. She was an excellent baker and enjoyed reading, playing cards, and doing jigsaw puzzles. She often attended rummage sales and was a collector of many things. She loved Christmas, Cardinals, and the color Blue. Karon had a strong faith and always dressed up for church on Sundays. Family was important to Karon and she often attended her children's and grandchildren's activities.
Grateful for having shared Karon's life are her children: Cindy (Paul) Henningsen, Rod (Carol) Merkel, Rusty (Holly) Merkel, Ross (Amanda) Merkel, and Chantelle Anliker; grandchildren: Tosha (Jer) Ulmer, Heather (Eric) Paur, Trevor (Kelsey) Kronberg, Colette (Tyler) Middlestead, Riley (Kiley) Merkel, Tyler (Stacy) Merkel, Mandy Merkel, Samuel (Courtney) Merkel, Lindsey (Zac) Robinson, Shamee Merkel, Shania Merkel, Cody Merkel, Carli Merkel, Raylynn (Collin) Eichhorn, Renna Rohrer, Remington Rohrer, Rosearia Rohrer, Ervin Rohrer; great-grandchildren: Tory, Christian, Ryder, Avery, Cameron, Kottyn, Hardy, Aubrey, Kinsey, Kaden, Jordan, Molly, Claire, Margot, James, Felix, Lewis, and Lachlan; twin sister, Carol Zieman; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Karon in death are her parents Herbert and Martha Neitzel; Husband, Ervin Anliker; son, Robert Merkel; an infant son; and siblings: Della Winchester, Donald Neitzel, Burton Neitzel, Lloyd Neitzel; Ladonna Jaehn.
