Karsten Leo Weinert of Bradgate, Iowa was born on June 24, 1937 in Hiawatha, Michigan. His parents were Konrad and Viola (Furry) Weinert. At the age of five, he and his family moved to a dairy farm in Bruce, Wisconsin. He graduated from Bruce High School in 1956 and served in the US Army from 1960-1962. On October 12, 1963, he married Jeanne Manifold in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Karsten and Jeanne moved to Lawrence, Kansas for a brief period of time, then returned to Bruce in 1964 and took over the family farm. The farm produced many beautiful memories and accomplishments, including "Farm Family of the Year." In December 1976, Karsten and his family moved to Iowa, settling in Bradgate. There he worked for Humboldt County Road Maintenance before retiring in 2002. Upon retirement, he enjoyed raising flowers and vegetables and spending time with his family. He treasured becoming a grandpa!
Karsten passed away October 19, 2024, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. He was 87 years old. Karsten and Jeanne had just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on October 12th. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jeanne, daughters Janine (Eric) Lange of Emmetsburg, Kim Weinert of Emmetsburg, Jennie Ford of Bradgate, and son Kurt (Kara) of Humboldt. He is also survived by his six cherished grandchildren, Kyle, Kaden and Kayla Weinert and Dane, Aden and Ava Ford, as well as his sisters Frieda Lundgren of Oregon and Irma Feller of Wisconsin, brothers Herman Weinert of Arizona and Max Weinert of Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Vincent, Walter, William, Conrad, Paul, and Erich and sisters Hilda Wuethrich and Emma Weinert.
