Kate Bohlke

Kate Bohlke, of Long Beach, age 66, died on December 4, 2025 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in New Orleans, LA. and moved to Long Beach with her family in 1973.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Bohlke; mother, Jeri Zimmerman; grandparents, Joe and Anna Dulcich; grandparents, Jack and Iris Bohlke.

Kate is survived by her daughter, Molly Kate Bohlke; son, Matthew J. Weems her siblings, Michael J. Bohlke (Wendy), Tom Bohlke (Sherri), and Pamela Braud (David); granddaughter, Vaeda Trudeau Hobbs; grandson, Kai Weems; 5 nieces and 2 nephews.

She studied to be a journalist, was an avid reader, and inspired to write a novel about mothers and daughters. She loved music, beating her granddaughter in Gin rummy, crossword puzzles, and going to Lil’ Rays. Taking care of her family was of the utmost importance to her. She spent the majority of her working career testing asphalt. She could make anyone in the room laugh, feel included, and loved. A lifelong Catholic, Kate had a beautiful faith.

The family would like to thank Joseph Trudeau Hobbs, Arden Hospice, and nurses, Brittany Zellhoefer, Anjelica Brazile, and Ruth Ladner for their wonderful care and help.

In lieu of flowers, Kate's family requests offerings be made to St. Vincent de Paul.
