Kate Neely Obituary
Published by Legacy on Oct. 18, 2024.
Our beloved Kate McAllister Neely, 39, tragically passed away in a plane crash on Saturday, September 28, 2024 with her husband, Jason Campbell. She was truly a one-of-a-kind, free-spirited, loving, nurturing, and selfless individual - beautiful inside and out.
Kate was born on July 19, 1985, in Hindsville, Illinois. She moved to Conyers, GA at age nine and graduated from Salem High School in Conyers, GA in 2003. Kate attended New York University receiving her degrees in Bachelor of Arts in Urban Design/Architecture and Metropolitan Studies.
Kate was a forward-thinker and launched right into the solar industry after college. First at Radiance Solar, followed by several other companies. Her main achievement was her entrepreneurial spirit which led to her to co-found two successful Solar Development companies, Soldev and Soli Renew. She worked as a solar energy professional for over 10 years, earning the respect from colleagues and clients for her insight and knowledge for all things renewable energy.
From the moment Kate and Jason met in Atlanta, GA in 2015 they were immediately inseparable and so their true love story began. They wed in San Antonio Texas on November 4th, 2017. Together they lived in several states including GA, TX, WA. They recently purchased a new home in Southern Pines, NC. They enjoyed their time traveling throughout most of the United States as well as Europe and were always planning their next adventure. They also enjoyed camping in National Parks and attending concerts, and they had a shared love of cooking meals together.
Kate was generous in all ways – especially with her time, conversation, and understanding – and was unwavering in her love for her family and especially her close friends. Kate was open about all things including living with bipolar disorder. Although it impacted her daily life, her strong resolve allowed her to persevere and achieve all she set out to do without reservation.
Kate had her entire life ahead of her and her dreams and plans were endless. Kate's spirit lives on through all the people that loved her and that will keep her memory alive. In lieu of flowers, Kate's family asks that you consider donating in her memory to the Brain & Behavior research foundation. https://donate.bbrfoundation.org/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&id=1
