Kate Stroppel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Poland-Thompson Funeral Home on Aug. 8, 2023.
Kate Marie Stroppel, 84, passed away peacefully at home on August 4, 2023.
Kate was born on May 8, 1939, in Axtell, Missouri to Ted R and Clara Marie (Bunton) Shelmadine.
After graduation from Atlanta High School in 1958, she was employed as a beautician at Genevieve's Beauty Shoppe in Macon, Missouri. She also acted as a hair model at the Missouri State Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners in Jefferson City. On September 6, 1959, Kate married John Edward Stroppel in Macon. They then moved several times in the state of Missouri following his occupation in electrical high-line construction. They returned to Macon in 1960 before the birth of their first child. Together they co-founded John's Mobile Home Service and continued business while he became employed at General Telephone Company in 1966. After the birth of their second child, Kate also began providing daily child care in the home. After a short stay in Columbia, Missouri, where John had been promoted by GTE, he was moved to a management position in Cameron in 1972. For several years, Kate continued providing child care for the infants of Cameron teachers during the school year.
She is survived by her daughters Debra Marie Liebig and husband Glen, of Eden, Maryland, and Darla Elaine Stroppel of Cameron; and granddaughters, Lisa Marie Liebig and husband Greg Sink, of Hemet, California and Lorie Morgan Clark and husband Jessey, of East Nashville, Tennessee.
Besides her family, she enjoyed their old Chevy's, NASCAR especially Carl Edwards, Chiefs, Royals, Mizzou, country music especially Loretta Lynn and reminiscing about old times on the family farm in Axtell.
Mrs. Stroppel has been cremated under the direction of Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron.
