Katharine Ruth Kohler Morris
January 8, 1936 -July 7, 2025
Katharine was born to Henry Fred and Ruth Rae (née Cox) Kohler in Houston, Texas. She was raised in Bay Town, TX and the Chicago suburbs. She was a Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed outings to Wrigley Field as a teen. She graduated from Stephen's College before becoming a stewardess. She was an entrepreneur throughout her adult life.
Katharine was a lover of animals, gardening, and travel. Over her lifetime, she and her family adopted numerous rescue dogs, cats, birds, and rabbits. She was particularly fond of her beagle Lola and her cat Chessie.
She was introduced to gardening by her father who grew dahlias. She embraced his passion, becoming the membership chairman for the National Capital Dahlia Society. She also enjoyed growing African violets and orchids.
Katharine was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years, Thomas C. Morris, Jr. whom she met while they were both employed at Eastern Airlines. They settled and started their family in Alexandria, Virginia.
Katharine is survived by her three daughters (Sherry Martin, Sheila Morris, and Stephanie Carmody), six grandsons (Sean, Kevin, Dylan, Evan, Colin, and Ryan), and two great grandsons (Micah and Nicholas - due November 2025.)
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Katharine's memory to your local animal rescue or a charity of your choice.
