Katherine Asher

Katherine A. Asher, of Hyden, Kentucky was born on October 19, 1964, in Leslie County, Kentucky to the union of the late Cova & Lula Baker Asher.  She filled her years with joy, commitment, and an unwavering love for her family.

Katherine devoted many years of her life to education, working as a Secretary for the Leslie County Board of Education until her retirement. Her colleagues knew her as a hardworking individual who was always on top of everything. She took great pride in her work, ensuring that all tasks were executed with precision and care.

A woman of kindness, happiness, and an outgoing nature, Katherine's true passion was her family. She cherished every moment spent with her two beloved daughters, Kristen Estridge and her husband Josh of Stinnett, KY, and Jessica Baker and her husband Trenton of Hyden, KY. Her grandchildren—Jacob, Jaxson, Conner, Trinity, Bayleigh, and Tatum Katherine—were the lights of her life, and she reveled in the joy they brought to her world. Katherine also enjoyed cooking and baking, taking the opportunity to provide warmth and nourishment to those she loved. An avid UK Basketball fan, she frequently attended sporting events near and far, cheering on her favorite team. 

In addition to her children and grandchildren, Katherine is survived by her brother, Carlos Asher and his wife Connie of Hyden, KY, and her sisters, Loretta Mosley and her husband Chuck of Hyden, KY, and Charlotte Dupier and her husband Jim of Williamsburg, KY. She held a special bond with her nephews, Mark Osborne, whom she loved as a brother, and Terry Osborne, both residing in Hyden, KY. The father of her children, Noel Miller of Hyden, KY.  As well as a host of other friends and family who will cherish her memory. 

Katherine is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Cova and Lula Baker Asher, and her sister, Scarlet Osborne. 

Katherine departed this earthly walk of life on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY.  Katherine was 61 years old.

Visitation for Katherine will be held on Monday, December 1, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home chapel. 

Interment will follow the services at the Asher Cemetery with Mark Osborne, Austin Osborne, Ashton Slusher, Josh Estridge, Trent Baker, Matthew Day and Trevor Osborne serving as pallbearers.  Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Osborne, Chuck Mosley, Chris Asher, Brandon Asher, and Caleb Mosley.

Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
