Katherine Bockius Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Logan-Videon Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc. - Broomall on Jan. 14, 2026.
Katherine Joanna (Donaldson) Bockius, affectionately known as Kate to her friends and loved ones, passed away at her home on January 12, 2026 at the age of 93 after a long battle with Alzheimer's, with her two children at her side. Born on June 4, 1932, in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, Kate spent her lifetime embracing her faith, nurturing her family, and enriching her community with her generous spirit and creative talents.

Kate was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 73 years John H. Bockius, Jr. who passed away August 17, 2025, her parents, William J. Donaldson and Laura C. (McCullough) Donaldson, her brother Walter W. Donaldson and her son-in-law John M. Thompson. She is survived by her loving daughter Katherine E. (Bockius) Thompson and her loving son John H. Bockius III (Rhonda). She is also survived by her adored grandchildren: Brian Thompson (Stephanie), Haley (Bockius) Smith (Greg), Sydney Bockius, Julia Bockius and Michael Thompson. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Kate had many talents. She sewed her own clothes and also her daughters, including her daughter's maternity wardrobe. She crocheted baby blankets for all her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to music.
Kate was very involved with her church for years, making outfits for their annual Live Christmas Nativity Scene, putting together backpacks for needy children, cooking and organizing pot luck lunches and serving often as a door greeter. At home, her cooking was stellar. She was known for her delicious dishes and her famous crab melts.

Those who knew Kate would describe her as generous, creative and spirited. Kate's legacy of love and creativity will continue to live on. Her journey continues in a place free of pain and full of joy, reunited with her beloved husband John.
