Katherine M. Chapman, 92, passed away Monday, April 28th at United Helpers in Canton, where she had resided for the past two years.
She was born March 31, 1933, on the Black Lake Road, daughter of Harold F. and Clara Bickelhaupt Baxter. She graduated from Hammond Central High School in 1952.
She married Harold L. Chapman on October 4, 1952, at the home of her parents.
Besides being a homemaker, she worked alongside her husband Harold, with their antiques business. Harold passed away on October 27, 2021.
Katherine enjoyed music and playing her keyboard, fishing and spending 14 winters in Florida with Harold.
She is survived by two sons, Raymond (Joanne) Chapman, Clayton, NY, and Richard (Dawn) Chapman, Hammond, a daughter, Rebekah (Bill) Bean, Hammond, 9 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathy Barton, in 2018, a sister, Irene Baxter McDougal, four brothers, Raymond, Donald, Charles and Allan Baxter, and a grandson, Scott Barton in 2001.
A calling hour will be held Friday, May 2nd from 1-2pm at the Costello Funeral Home, Alexandria Bay. A funeral service will begin at 2pm with Pastor David Sheppard, officiating.
Burial will follow the at Fineview Cemetery, Hammond.
Memorial donations may be made in Katherine’s name to the American Cancer Society.
