Funeral services for Katherine Elizabeth “Beth” Edwards, 69, of Bossier City, will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana, at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery in Bossier City. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Father Kelby Tingle.
Katherine Elizabeth was born on July 23, 1954, to Albert Washington Edwards and Joann Lucille Naber Edwards at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, Louisiana, and passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023.
Beth graduated Salutatorian from Bossier High School in 1972. She then received her associate degree in nursing and was a Licensed Practical Nurse in the states of Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas as well as being a licensed Emergency Medical Technician. She worked for Willis Knighton Medical Center for 20 years. She also had a commercial truck driver's license.
Beth married Randall James LaBorde in 1973 and together and although they divorced in 1998, they had three children together, Sharon Ann LaBorde, Jean Paul LaBorde, and Roger James LaBorde. She loved her children very much and would tell any and everyone that they were her greatest achievement. She loved all creatures great and small but was especially fond of horses, dogs, and cats. She was an avid reader and was often reading new books. She enjoyed books about horses and fantasy. She read to all of her children and shared her passion for stories with them. She will be greatly missed.
Katherine was preceded in death by her father, “Papa” Albert Washington Edwards. She is survived by her mother, “Bum-pie” Joann Lucille Naber Edwards; sisters, Anita Edwards Moore, and Emily “Pam” Edwards Grey; brother, Joel Edwards; daughter, Sharon Ann LaBorde; sons, Jean Paul LaBorde and Roger James LaBorde.
Honoring Beth as pallbearers will be Bill Jones, Billy Means, David Carmichael, Dominic Salinas, Hoy James Colgin, Jacob Arceneaux, James Denham, Joel Edwards, and Randall James LaBorde. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dale Dupuy and Sharon Griffith.
The family would like to express special thanks to Mrs. Jane Freudenberger and the staff of Life Path Hospice for taking such good care of her during the last year of her life.
