Katherine Johannesson, 83, of Lansdale, died Saturday, March 30, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Russell E. Johannesson, who died February 28, 2006.
Born August 5, 1940 in Murga, Hungary, she was a daughter of the late George and Elisabet (Hansel) Klein. After living as a refugee in Bavaria, she and her family moved to Milwaukee at the age of 7.
After graduating from Capital University in Ohio, Mrs. Johannesson received her master's degree from Temple University and was employed as a Spanish teacher with Pennridge School District for many years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansdale, since 1971 and was a dedicated supporter of the North Penn Marching Knights (Music Aides). Her hobbies included gardening, knitting, reading, cooking for family and friends, and enjoying good food and wine. She will be remembered for her dedication to her family, especially her grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, Russell Johannesson of Aabenraa, Denmark, and Robert E. Johannesson (Christy) of Lansdale; two beloved grandchildren, Michael and Elizabeth; and her sister, Elizabeth Schmidt of Pewaukee, WI.
Relatives and friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 15, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Main St., Lansdale, PA 19446 followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the church columbarium. Arrangements are by the Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, Lansdale.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in her memory to Trinity Lutheran Church, address above, North Penn Music Aides, 1340 S. Valley Forge Road, Lansdale, PA 19446, or to an environmental charity of one's choice.
