UNIONTOWN--Katherine M. “Cathy” Jones, 75, passed away August 8, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Steubenville, Ohio, Cathy lived in the Akron/Uniontown area most of her life. She retired from Goodyear after 22 years of service where she worked as a secretary in the purchasing department. Cathy was loved by the people in her department. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, baking, and especially flying with her husband Ken, but Cathy’s greatest love was being a grandmother.

Preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Katherine Hess; and brother-in-law, David O’Dear; she is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Kenneth; step children, James and Kimberly Jones; her grandchildren, Kurt, Skylar, Kallie, Tristan, Christopher and Courtney, who each brought her great joy in life; brothers, Gilbert (Beverly), Richard (Darla) and Dave (Cathy) Hess; sister, Diane O’Dear; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Cathy was a very loving person who was deeply devoted to her family and she will be greatly missed. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Akron City ICU and the Palliative Care Unit of Summa for Cathy’s care.

Friends and family will be received Thursday, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 & Cleveland Ave.) Funeral service will be Friday, 1 p.m., at the funeral home.
