Katherine "Kathy" Cline Lanphier, of Kirksville, MO, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, June 4, 2024, at La Belle Manor Care Center in La Belle, MO.
Kathy was born September 8, 1961, in Hannibal, MO, to Jackie and Levonne (Greene) Simerl.
She married Hughie Cline on May 9, 1987. They cherished their 24 years together, until his passing in 2011. Together they raised three sons and one daughter.
She was united in marriage to Douglas Lanphier on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2013, in Memphis, MO. He survives.
She graduated from Highland High School in Lewistown, MO. Over the years, Kathy worked in many different fields, from operating an in-home daycare to owning and managing two restaurants and a catering service. She was most proud of her time working as a licensed practical nurse, caring for patients and assisting with deliveries of many babies in Scotland County.
Kathy enjoyed a good cup of coffee and her many hobbies. She collected jewelry and rocks. Some of her most treasured memories were taking vacations through the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina mining for rubies with her family. Most of all, she loved visits with friends and family, cooking for family gatherings, and giving gifts to her loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Hughie Cline; father, Jackie Simerl; brother, Danny Simerl; and grandparents, Marja and Junior Simerl.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas Lanphier; daughter, Angel (John) Grogan; stepsons, Todd (Lezah) Cline, Chris (Sarah) Cline, Jeff Cline (Angel Small), Daniel (Stephanie) Lanphier, and Michael (Amanda) Lanphier; mother, Levonne (Dean) Simerl; brother, Steve (Lori) Simerl; grandchildren, Darick Cline, Rebecca Cline, Stephen Glover, Vanessa Graves, Davin Anders, Hannah Cline, Noah Cline, Madelyn Cline, Nova Cline, Penelope Cline, Gillian Grogan, and Adam Grogan; niece, Stevie Simerl; nephews, Cory Simerl, Colt Simerl, and Case Simerl; best friend, Karen Brown; four great grandchildren; numerous cousins; many friends; and of course her four-legged daughter, Coco Lizzy.
