Katherine (Conaway) Kollock was the 8th child, born on June 6, 1937, to Addie (Murray) Conaway and Thomas Henry Conaway. Born in Lawrence Township, she spent her life in Downe Township, at the Conaway homestead. Katherine was a 1955 graduate of Bridgeton High School.
Katherine was introduced to James Kollock, who would become the love of her life, by her sister Corabelle. Their first date was at the local skating rink, where Katherine was known for her skating skills, legs, and skirts. The rest is history with them being married on August 13, 1964. This union produced her first two heartbeats, Keith Douglas and Jean.
Katherine was no stranger to work and worked in local sewing factories and ultimately at Wheaton Glass, retiring after decades of service. Upon retiring, she became her husband's official Secretary and was ALWAYS consulted before he made a commitment. One of their greatest commitments was being co-nurturers of their granddaughter, Jasmin. In addition, retirement also led her to join John Wesley United Methodist Church, with her husband. She was a faithful and active member, serving in every capacity as needed including Willing Workers, UM Women, and UM Steward. She was also the manager of the Kitchen Crew and volunteered hours at the Abundance of Blessing Food Pantry, church programs, especially those for youth, until her health failed.
Katherine was blessed with a large biological family. Losing her mother, as an infant, she was the center of her sisters and brothers lives until their passing. She was also blessed with an extended family, with lifelong relationships, including Ms. Pinky, Hattie Baker, and Viola Smalls.
Over and above all, Katherine placed precedence on family!
Surviving are daughter Jean Kollock-Rider, granddaughter Jasmin Rider, godchildren Brandon Spivey and Cheree Smalls and her son's companion Joyce Chambers-Howard and son, Bruce Howard.
She was predeceased by her husband James Kollock, son, Keith Douglas Kollock Sr, and grandson, Keith Douglas Kollock Jr, siblings: Elwood (Sookie) Conaway, Robert Conaway, Arville Conaway, Alexander (Carl) Conaway, Marion Conaway, Corabelle Handy and Mary Alice Barnett.
Whether you called her Mommy, Mom, Mommom, Aunt Katherine, Twin, or Boo-Boo, rest assured if there is a way for her to roller skate, yard sale, catch up with family or simply call "James" she is happy. She will be missed by her family and friends and her favorite salutation will always echo in our hearts "You know I love you."
Lovingly Submitted, The Family of Katherine Kollock
