Katherine Juanita Luper

Katherine Juanita Patton Luper, of Woodlawn, passed away with her loved ones by her side on February 15, 2026, at the age of 91. Born near Delps Beach, Fries, VA, on March 20, 1934, she was the daughter of Kyle Franklin Patton and Clara Alverta Patton. She was preceded in death by her brother Harold Glen Patton; her sister Shirley Ann Patton Robinson; and special family members Jerry Dale Russell and Teri Lyn Russell.

Left to cherish her memory, her special family member and longtime caregiver, Kaye Russell, and Brian of the home. She is also survived by special family members Jakki Dalton, Elijah Galyean, and Kailah Thomas.

Katherine's life was defined by her kindness and a giving heart. She loved the Lord and would often quote scripture in hopes of having a chat with you on the topic. She never met a stranger and had a way of making everyone feel good about themselves. Her gentle spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She spent many dedicated years working at Waddell Nursing home, where she met wonderful people and made them feel like part of her family. Making a person's day wasn't part of her job, it was simply who she was.

Books brought Katherine much joy, but nothing held her heart like animals, especially cats. She was known by many as the "cat lady." Throughout her life she devoted her spare time caring for the areas feral cats, making sure that they were fed, safe and loved. She opened her home to countless strays giving them a second chance at a warm, happy life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to your local animal shelter in her memory as a way to carry on her legacy.
