Katherine " Kitty" F. McNamara, a cherished and loving matriarch, mentor, and friend, peacefully passed away on October 30, 2024, in Jamestown, NY, at the age of 87. Born on November 30, 1936, in Fredonia, NY, Kitty was a testament to her steadfast love, caring nature, and creative spirit. She was a beacon of light and warmth to her family and all who knew her. Kitty was predeceased by her devoted husband of 69 years, Ronald A. McNamara, her caring parents Robert and Lucy (Jackett) Montague, and her brothers Harold, Robert, and David Montague. Her long life was filled with the joy of raising a family and the satisfaction of working beside her husband on McNamara Brothers family farm. She also took great pride in being a dedicated housewife, ensuring that the family home was a place of comfort, happiness, and delicious aromas. A graduate of Fredonia Central Schools, Kitty always instilled the value of education and hard work in her children. She was also an active member of the Hillside Club, where she contributed greatly to the community and formed lasting friendships. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Susan (Nate) Palmer, Sharon (Benny) Bottita, Sandra (Al) Forbes, and Sheila (Joel) Fiebelkorn. Kitty's legacy extends to her grandchildren, Angela (Brad) Thomas, Anthony (Bridget) Bottita, Lisa (Ben) Bates, Alex (Lindsay) Palmer, Andrew (Stephanie) Forbes, Troy (Christy) Forbes, Jessica (James) Pryll, Crystal (Tyler) Gabel, and Melissa (Brad) Fiebelkorn, and her cherished 10 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy and laughter into her life. Surviving also are her beloved sister Patricia (Andy) Czeck and brother George (Lynne) Montague, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Each of these family members held a special place in her heart, and Kitty never missed an opportunity to show her love and support for them. Kitty's passions were many, but among them, quilting shone brightest. She poured her heart and soul into creating beautiful quilts for family and friends, each piece a tapestry of her affection and care. Her love for family was the foundation of everything she did; whether garnishing her home with vibrant flowers, tending to her garden, watching the birds, or baking her much-anticipated treats, she infused her love for life into each activity. Her home was not only a sanctuary that echoed with laughter over shared meals and conversations, but it was also a reflection of her love for beauty, seen in the bountiful garden she meticulously cared for. Kitty had a unique way of finding joy in the simple things, from the colors of the flowers she nurtured to the melodies of the birds that serenaded her mornings. Her wisdom, humor, and stories have left indelible marks on the hearts of those she touched. Kitty McNamara will be profoundly missed and eternally celebrated by her loved ones. Her life was a patchwork quilt of experiences, lessons, and love - a quilt that will continue to provide comfort and inspiration to her family for generations to come. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered.
