Katherine Luvenia Reed, 53, of Arkadelphia, Arkansas transitioned to be with our Heavenly Father on Monday, September 16, 2024. She was born September 8, 1973, in Frankfort, Kentucky to Mac Arthur Lee Reed and Bobbie Ruby Reed. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents.

Kathy graduated from Lakeside High School, Class of 1989, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She took classes and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked at a couple of Nursing homes, but ultimately decided that Home Health was her happy calling to be able to assist clients with disabilities remain in the comfort of their homes. Kathy later worked as a cashier at Burger King Restaurant.

Kathy loved her family and friends, but she especially cherished her bundle of joy, her namesake, Katherine Nicole Balch, who came into her life on November 30, 2005. They had a special bond, and Katherine was encouraged to be the best that she could be. Kathy was in her element watching WWE Smackdown Wrestling and you can bet that she knew the names of every wrestler. She was also an avid fan of the Arkansas Razorback Football Team.

Kathy joined Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in 2010 where she fell deeper in love with the Lord and found more folks at church to add to her Family. Kathy was very active at Mt. Canaan. She was the Children’s Class Assistant, active in Sunday School, Morning Worship, Wednesday Night Bible Study, Vacation Bible School and evening programs. She helped in the Nursery, Praise on the Block and anywhere else that she was needed. Kathy missed less than five days her entire time at Mt. Canaan. Her presence will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Katherine Nicole Balch; her brother, Mac Arthur Lee Reed, Jr; Aunts, Rosie Lee Wright (Robert); Virginia Todd Hollinshed and Fannie Mae Scott; a very good friend, Monique Wakefield; her Church Family, and a host of cousins and community friends.
