Katherine Rinando, 78, of Beaumont, died Monday, July 15, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born September 19, 1945, to Lee and Pearl Cascio.
She was in the first graduating class of Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School in 1963. Shortly after graduation, she met Vincent Rinando, and they married on June 26, 1966. They went on to build their family with four children: Rose, Paula, Vince Jr., and Christopher. She worked alongside her husband at their laundry service, raised their children, and later substituted at St. Anne Catholic School.
She loved the beach and everything about it. It was her happy place, walking and collecting shells, fishing and mostly the sunsets. The memories she made with her family there were priceless. She and Pawpaw taught each one of us to fish and crab. She had so much joy catching "the big one" but loved watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren catch them too.
Katherine's devotion to St. Joseph was unwavering. As the Sicilian matriarch of our family, she spent countless hours upholding the tradition of St. Joseph's Altar, just as her mother, Pearl, did. Her culinary skills were legendary, with her green bean and artichoke casserole, twice-baked potatoes, and her signature hot sauce being the highlights of any family gathering. Her love and care for her family earned her the endearing title of "Granny," which she carried with pride throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Vincent, of 56 years. She is survived by her children, Rose Herrera (Alex), Paula Driskill (Kevin), Vince Rinando, Jr. (Amy), and Christopher Rinando (Jennifer); nine grandchildren, Racheal Martinez, Joseph Fowler, DJ Fowler, Dr. Frankie LaGrone, Brandon Driskill, Anna Rinando, Nick Rinando, Brittyn Rinando, Braxton Rinando; and twelve great-grandchildren; her sister, Frances Kaiser, brother, Joe Cascio; and many nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friend, Kerry Ehrensberger.
