Katherine Dennice Smithee, beloved wife, mother, sister, and daughter, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2025, in Greenbrier, Tennessee, at the age of 71. Born on July 10, 1953, in Bakersville, California, Katherine embodied kindness and love throughout her life, leaving a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Katherine's greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her role as a loving wife to her husband, Michael Smithee, nurturing a partnership that exemplified mutual respect and support. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and lasting memories.
As a mother, Katherine cherished her children, Timothy Smithee and Caedmon Grace (Reece) Smithee. Her guidance and affection instilled in them the values of compassion and strength that they carry with them to this day. Katherine was not only a devoted mom but also a cherished sister and daughter, having built strong bonds with her siblings: Sharon Powell (Carlos) Garcia, Steve (BJ) Powell, and Glenda (Gary) Baker.
In addition to her family ties, Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lois Powell, and her dear daughter, Jenny Lynn Smithee. Their memory lived on in Katherine's heart, shaping her spirit and nurturing her capacity for love.
Katherine had a profound passion for her family, finding joy in the simple act of being present and enjoying life's moments together. She will be remembered for her kind and loving nature, a gentle spirit that embraced all those around her.
Her legacy will continue through her surviving family who carry forward the love she instilled in each of them. Katherine's life was a testament to the power of love and family, and her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her.
