Kathi Bond Obituary
Kathi Walmer Bond, 69, of Wooster, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, at Ohio's Hospice LifeCare in Wooster. Born on April 13, 1955, in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, Kathi's warmth, generosity, and spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.
Kathi was a 1973 graduate of Wooster High School. She went on to study at the College of Wooster and Ohio State University before embarking on a successful career. Kathi worked at Threads Liberated, Gilardi Pizza, and Tricor, but her greatest professional achievement was founding CryoPlus Inc. in 1994, a cryogenic business she led until her retirement in 2024.
Kathi’s contributions extended far beyond her career. She was deeply involved in various community organizations, including the Wooster Chamber of Commerce, the Wooster Noon Lions Club, the Wooster Elks, and Women in the Metal Industry. She was also a member of the American Society for Metals and the National Association of Women Business Owners. Over the years, her exceptional dedication was recognized with numerous awards: Athena International Award (2012), Woman of Achievement (2009), Real Community Heroes Award (2007), and Lion of the Year (2005, 2022).
Kathi was married to Gary Fisher for six years and later to Hobie Bond, whom she married on July 20, 2002. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Left to honor her memory are her sisters, Dolores (Don) Nelson and Dori (Mike) Doerfler; her brother, Bill Walmer; her son, Bill (Tawny) Fisher; and her three grandchildren, Liam and Mila Fisher and Rheanna Vura.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roberta and Eugene Walmer; her maternal grandparents, Joe and Genevieve Ackerman; and her paternal grandparents, George and Bertha Walmer.
Kathi’s final act of generosity was donating her body to science, continuing her legacy of giving. Friends may visit Saturday, January 18 from 12 to 2pm at Roberts Funeral Home - Sherwood Chapel, Wooster. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Kathi requested that donations be made to the Wooster Noon Lions Club, 1580 Arthur Dr., Wooster, OH 44691.
