Obituary of Kathleen Beatty
Kathleen Beatty, lovingly known as Kate or Kake or Aunt Kate the Great, died peacefully in Gulf Breeze, FL on March 11, 2025. Her death was the result of end stage dementia.
Kate was born on July 5, 1957 in Philadelphia as the second of five children. She was raised in Marlton, NJ in a neighborhood filled with family friends. She attended St. Joan of Arc School, Holy Cross High School and Rutgers University, where she graduated with honors with a business degree. She used that degree to work in various roles including marketing, sales, and business administration. She later obtained her license as a massage therapist, and she treasured that part of her career as she loved to help people. A highlight of her career was winning the Island Spirit Award while working at a tourist attraction in Orange Beach, AL.
Throughout her life she had many interests and passions including sea turtles, music, art, the ocean and all animals. She always had cats and dogs in her home and once had a pet octopus. She was a good steward of the earth and participated in coastal cleanup efforts and in sea turtle nest protection when she was healthy. She was a lifelong Philadelphia Eagles fan and would spend game days during football season in Eagles Green. Go Birds! Kate enjoyed travel, especially to Puerto Vallarta and to Ocean City, NJ where she would go to "Cousins Week" with her extended Beatty family. Her life's path started with her living in NJ and then on to Tennessee and finally to Alabama. She made friends at every stop along the way.
Kate will be missed by many but especially by her partner of 30 years, Roxane Myers; her stepson Dustin Myers and his three children Max, Leighton and Harbor; her brothers Charlie (Karen), Steve (Cheryl), Paul (Greta) and her sister Carolyn Murphy (Bill); as well as by her beloved nieces and nephews and grandnephew and grandniece and her extended family. She was predeceased by her parents Charles and Kay Beatty.
Her family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers from The Beacon at Gulf Breeze and Emerald Coast Hospice who provided kind, compassionate care over the past few months when she could no longer be at home.
There will be a celebration of her life at a future date in AL. In lieu of flowers, consider doing a coastal cleanup or an act of kindness in her honor. Kate was a generous woman. Her favorite charities were the SPCA and the World Wildlife Fund-Elephants.

You were loved so much by me and my siblings, you really always made me laugh with your stories and when you would stop people in there tracks to have a conversation and you always left people with a smile. I´m gonna miss the way you giggled at things even if you didnt understand, im gonna miss you making my dad mad over politics, im gonna miss the smile u carried everywhere. You always telling me about how i was the first baby you saw being born, you calling me lulu and showing my baby picture, you getting us lost trying to find a publix. Im gonna miss every detail. You were my grandmother. Not by blood, not by marriage, but i will always consider you that. I love you.
