Mrs. Kathleen Olivia Brewer Aydogdu, 41, of Winston Salem, NC, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital due to complications following surgery.
Kathleen was born in Forsyth County, NC, to the late James J. Brewer and Olivia H. Brewer on April 27, 1984.
She graduated from North Forsyth High School in 2002, before going on to graduate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a degree in Psychology. Kathleen was a very nurturing, caring woman. As her mother’s health began to fail, Kathleen gladly forfeited her career goals to take care of her mother’s needs. Prior to becoming her mother’s caregiver, Kathleen held numerous jobs; but her work as a server at Olive Garden Restaurant changed her life as it was there she met her loving spouse, Huzur Aydogdu.
Family was very important to Kathleen as well as her Moravian heritage. Being an only child, she delighted in the time she got to spend with her cousins. When she married Huzur, she spread her love to his family, too. As a dedicated wife, Kathleen learned all she could about her husband’s Turkish traditions and customs, including how to prepare his favorite foods. Sadly, their time together was cut far too short.
Those left to cherish Kathleen’s memory include her devoted and loving husband, Huzur Aydogdu, her godmother, Susan Mendenhall Smith; her cousin, Marsha (Bob) Duke and family; her beloved pets; as well as many special family members and friends.
A graveside service to honor Kathleen will take place on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 11:00AM in the Friedberg Moravian Church Graveyard with Rev. Jim C. Newsome, Jr. officiating.
Flowers are welcomed, or you can donate to Friedberg Moravian Church, 2178 Friedberg Church Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27127, in Kathleen's memory.
