Kathleen Jones Call, age 75, passed away peacefully at her home in Dumfries, Virginia, on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

Born on October 15, 1949, in Tempe, Arizona, to Archie Lavar and Ada Jones, Kathy was the youngest of six children. She was raised on a dairy farm in Chandler, Arizona, where she developed a lifelong love of cows — a fondness she carried with her throughout her life.

A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kathy was the beloved mother of six children. She graduated from Brigham Young University in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and, later that year, married the love of her life, Donald J Call, in the Mesa Arizona Temple.

Kathy lived a life of joyful service — to her family, friends, and faith community. She had a deep love for music and singing, for teaching, for her family, and for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Among her many cherished church callings were serving as Ward and Stake Primary President, Relief Society teacher, and Ward Music Coordinator.

Kathy was a steadfast support to her husband throughout his 22-year career in the United States Marine Corps, raising their children with strength and grace during multiple deployments — including their time stationed in Panama during Operation Just Cause in 1989.

A gifted teacher, Kathy touched the lives of many through her work with Joy School, Montessori programs, and Head Start. Her nurturing spirit and natural warmth made her a beloved presence wherever she served.

She is fondly remembered by all who knew her for her enduring love and guidance, and for sayings that became touchstones for her family: “Remember who you are and what you stand for,” “Stick together like glue,” and “Home again, home again, jiggity jig.”

Kathy is survived by her husband, Donald; four of their six children: Jay (Laura) Call, Matthew (Katie) Call, Caitlin (Steven) Wheeler, and Courtney (Ben) Emmett; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers; and three sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Keith; and two beloved children, Kristen and Kevin.

While it is painful to say goodbye, we rejoice in knowing that she is “home again, home again,” reunited with Kristen, Kevin, and those who went before her.

Kathy will be laid to rest next to her children in Heber City, Utah, on Saturday, June 28. A viewing will be held at Heber Valley Funeral Home at 288 N. Main Street at 12 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m.
