Kathleen Dessart,
"Fay"
(nee Gaffney)
He Only Takes The Best
God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be; so he put his arms around you, and whispered, "Come to me". With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away; although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
On February 9, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones, Kathleen "Fay" Dessart (Gaffney), 91, of Merton, WI, peacefully went to be with our Lord and Savior. For several years, Fay suffered from and battled with dementia.
Fay was born on September 9th, 1932, to Owen and Florence (Slavens) Gaffney in Milwaukee, WI.
At the age of 14, Fay met the young man who was to become her husband, Norman Dessart; they wed on December 29, 1951, going on to have eight children, Greg (Chris Komppa) Dessart, Charles Dessart, Harold (Zoe Nelson) Dessart, Crystal (Lenny Bartz) Bartz, Kathleen (Tim Keiper) Kieper, Norman (Tina Gamble) Dessart, Kelly Dessart and David (Jessica White) Dessart.
October 1952 Fay had their first child, Greg, at which time she decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. Not a day went by where Fay didn't talk about how much her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren meant to her -- her family was arguably her most important achievement in life. Fay excelled at propping up members of her family and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives.
Later in life, Fay enjoyed bingo, dancing, watching soap operas, playing cards, and betting on Football. She spent much of her time attending and celebrating any and all family achievements. A beautiful, loving, and comforting woman until the very end, we will miss her greatly.
Fay was preceded by her Loving Husband – Norman C. Dessart, Sister Betty Eder, Brothers Jack and Miles Gaffney, Great Grandson Niqwan Langford, and Great Great Granddaughter Brooklyn Jo Bowie.
Fay is survived by her Brother Owen (Skip) Gaffney, Sister-In-Law Dianne, Brother- in-law Henry Eder, 28 Grandchildren, 40 Great Grandchildren, and 7 Great Great Grandchildren
