Janice Komar Obituary

Janice Helen Komar passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 26, 2025, at the age of 82 in Wauwatosa, WI due to complications from COPD and cancer. Born on November 12, 1942, in Sheboygan, WI, Jan was the daughter of the late Russell A. Kohl and Helen Boneck.

After graduating from Sheboygan North High School she moved to Milwaukee and started a family. Throughout her professional career, Jan's thoughtful and diligent approach to her work was apparent to all who had the pleasure of working with her. She spent many years in reception and order processing, first at Sealcraft, Inc. and later at Feiter's Land and Wheels, Inc. Jan's colleagues will remember her for her dedication and the care she put into every task she undertook. Jan had a diverse range of interests. She had an enduring love for Milwaukee's many festivals where she could be found enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and embracing the culture and camaraderie of her community. As a member of the Vagabond Ski Club, she not only enjoyed the thrill of skiing, tennis and volleyball but also the satisfaction in the many friendships forged on snowy slopes and travel to far-off destinations. Jan loved wildlife and nature, and it was through the joy of observing the beauty of the world's landscapes and creatures that she found a profound sense of peace and wonder. As a member of Mature Singles, she found companionship and support, reinforcing her belief that life's chapters could be embraced at every age. Throughout much of her life Jan chronicled her journey through meticulously curated photo albums, which remain a cherished legacy for her family and friends to treasure.

She leaves behind a loving family: her sister Susan (Felsher) Castanha, brother Randy Kohl, daughter Daphne Therese Duffy (Will), son David Randall (D.R.) Komar (Crystal), and beloved granddaughters Savanna Dawn Komar-Huntington (Nicholas), Kailey Lynn Komar, Madisyn Alana Komar, Katherine Marie Duffy, and Margaret Eileen Duffy.

As we bid farewell to a woman of such rich character and love, we reflect on Janice's indelible impact on our lives. Through memories and stories shared, her legacy of warmth, adventure, and unwavering spirit will remain forever ingrained in the hearts of those she loved.

The family would like to thank the staff at Aurora at Home Hospice and at the Aurora Zilber Family Hospice facility in Wauwatosa for the compassionate care that they provided to Janice.

Family and friends are invited on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at CHURCH AND CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME, 1875 N. Calhoun Road, Brookfield, WI, with visitation starting at 3:00 PM and the Life Celebration Service at 5:00 PM.
