Kathleen Helen "Kathie" Grandstaff, 83, of Roann, Indiana, died at 11:45 am on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Wellbrooke of Wabash. She was born on September 20, 1941, in Richmond, Indiana, to Julius M. and Florence (Rearick) Moy.
Kathie graduated from Bunker Hill High School in 1959. She continued her education at Ball State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree in 1963, finally achieving her Master's of Arts Degree in 1966. Kathie began her professional career teaching music education for Wabash City Schools. She married Ken W. Grandstaff in Peru, on July 6, 1963; from that point on, worked along side her husband in their funeral homes in Roann, Wabash, and North Manchester, in nearly every aspect of the business. Kathie was a member of Roann United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and was also the organist. She participated in the Wabash Musicale, and the Roann Happy Homemakers. Kathie also belonged to the Alumni Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota, an honorary music fraternity. She was on the board of directors for Stockdale Mill Foundation, Wabash Valley Music Association, and Tender Hearts Day Care Ministry. Kathie especially enjoyed spending summers on Lake Wawasee.
She is survived by two daughters, Julie Kay (Joe) Kostka of Naperville, Illinois and Jean Marie (Doug) Morehouse of Brookston, Indiana; three grandchildren, Nathan Joseph Kostka of Naperville, Jack Douglas Morehouse and Anna Marie Morehouse, both of Brookston, and sisters, Judith (Edward) Kunkle of Peru, Phyllis (Thomas) Agness of Fort Wayne, and Alice Eller of Roann. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ken who died July 18, 2015.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at the Roann United Methodist Church, with Pastor David Eaton and Kurt Snyder officiating. Burial will be in the Roann Community Cemetery. Friends may call 2-7 pm Tuesday at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel, 335 S. Chippewa Road in Roann.
