Kathleen Ann (Kiely) Haynes passed away peacefully at her home in East Providence, Rhode Island on December 26, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was 92 years old. Kay, as she was referred to by those that were close to her, was born on May 4, 1931 in Boston, MA. She was the devoted wife of the late Robert Clinton Haynes, whom she was married to for over 63 years before his passing in 2016.
Kay is survived by her daughter Sandra Ginalski and her partner, David Levine of Rehoboth, MA, her daughter Brenda Elliot and her husband, Michael of East Providence, RI, her daughter Cynthia LoSasso and her husband, Michael of East Providence, RI, and her son Thomas and his partner, Robert Neubauer of Woonsocket, RI. Kathleen leaves her two sisters, Mary Reardon and Joanne Richards, and her sister-in-law, Frances Kiely. She was also the loving sister of the late Stephen Kiely, who was her twin, her other brother, the late John Kiely and another baby sister, the late Bridget Kiely.
Kay, or "Gram" as she was referred to, was the grandmother of Amy, Patrick, Timothy, Kyle, Michael and Bryan. She also leaves ten beautiful great-grandchildren that knew her as "Gigi." They are Elliot, Phineas, Robert, Jeremy, Kathryn, Ocelene, Kiely, Link, Elliana and Charlotte. They truly put the twinkle in her eye!
Kathleen was meant to be a mother, a grandmother and a great-grandmother. She adored children and started babysitting at a very young age. In fact, she was pushing a stroller with one of her "charges" when her future husband, Bob, asked her on their first date. She cherished her home and gardening, and even had a "she-shed" in her backyard before it was fashionable. Nothing thrilled her more than having her family surround her at her home for a hearty dinner or a cook-out!
Kay was a talented artist, specializing in watercolors. She absolutely loved White Horse Beach in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where she vacationed often and was one of the first to gather sea glass, and to make art out of seaweed. She also created her "knock-off version" of the famous Byers Christmas carolers, which she sold at local craft fairs. She gave many away to friends and family. Kathleen, like her own mother, was an avid Boston Bruins fan, and she enjoyed watching sports of all kinds. She also was a competitive duckpin bowler! She could knit almost anything, and loved to read, especially a good, thick biography. Later on in life, Kay learned to golf and joined a women's league. She had a sense of humor that was unparalleled, and will truly be missed.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Mary's Church in Dedham, Massachusetts on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to any children's charity of your choice or www.refocusinc.org in Kay's memory.

To all of Kay´s family... I had the distinct pleasure of being Kay´s neighbor for the past 12 years. She was such a joy. During Covid when she took out all her painting supplies, she painted for me a cute little farm scene with sheep and a red barn ... and as she explained... her "signature" three tiny, barely visible birds in the sky. I framed it in a gold frame and will treasure it forever. Condolences to everyone. Sue Broomhead
