Raritan - Kathleen A. (Kathy) Hughes-Fischetti, 61, entered eternal life Monday, October 4, 2021. She was lifted on wings of Angels peacefully at her home. With family by her side, her heart was abundantly filled with love. Kathy was born in Somerville to her dear parents, Irene B. and Raymond L. Hughes. Raised in Somerville and Bedminster, she was a very proud resident of Somerset County.
Though the Lord called upon her too soon, Kathy lived a very blessed life. She was a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. She was a graduate of Somerville High School. Eager to work alongside her father in the family's local business, Hughes-Plumer & Associates, she pursued higher learning at various educational institutions throughout the country, specializing in Insurance and Risk Management. Ultimately, she purchased the company with her adoring brother, Raymond L. Hughes II.
Of the many blessings in her life, she wed her best friend and soulmate, Alan Fischetti. Her life would not have been complete without the gift of being a mother. She cherished her children and devoted her life to being a most deeply loving and nurturing mother. Also, serving her community was of great importance as she selflessly volunteered much of her time throughout her life. A very spiritual soul, she was a truly kind and compassionate person who touched the lives of so many. Kathy loved animals and she had a tremendous concern for the care and well-being of sheltered pets. One of her great missions in life was to help adoptable pets find safe and loving homes, which she accomplished for decades. It is remarkable that her passing occurred on the day commemorating St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. Of the numerous organizations she served, they include the Church of Saint Ann, Somerset Regional Animal Shelter and Somerset County Park Foundation. Kathy had a love of travel and enjoyed visiting a variety of countries. She appreciated the beauty of nature and while she enjoyed activities such as gardening at her home, she loved spending time with family and friends at her family's summer home in Maine.
Kathleen is survived by her adoring family: her husband Alan Fischetti, daughters Julianna and Alexaray, son Alan Tristan Fischetti, his wife Kristy and grandsons Cole Alessandro and Max Tristan, brothers Gregory A. Hughes, Mark V. Hughes, Raymond L. II and wife Christine Hughes, sister-in-law Donna Perry and husband Raymond, nephews Daniel Hughes, Matthew Hughes and Brandan Hughes, niece Ryan Cara and wife Gabriel Hughes. She is predeceased by her beloved parents Raymond L. and Irene B. Hughes and in-laws Alessandro & June Fischetti.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home of Cuoco Funeral & Cremation Services, 10 West End Avenue, Somerville, NJ, (908)707-2058. Funeral Mass on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 10:00 am, St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, 45 Anderson Street, Raritan, NJ 08869, (908)725-1008 followed by Interment at St. Bernard Cemetery, Bridgewater, NJ.
