Kathleen M. (Cooper) Iacoboni, 72, of Vernon, beloved wife of 49 years to Thomas J. Iacoboni, passed away with grace, courage, and willpower on Sunday, March 22, 2026, following a long and determined battle with cancer. She was born on June 25, 1953, in Hartford, one of five children to the late George A. Cooper and Kathryn M. Gee.
Kathleen grew up in Simsbury and was a graduate of Simsbury High School, class of 1971. Following high school, she continued her education enrolling in the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing program, graduating in 1974. After graduation, she was employed for 40 years at Hartford Hospital in the IV Department as a registered nurse before her retirement. Whether she was supporting her sons in the local Cub and Boy Scout troops, or volunteering at the First Congregational Church of Vernon, Kathleen was a constant, dedicated presence in her community. Her adventurous spirit truly shone through with the Manx Dune Buggy Club; together, with Tom, she frequently traveled around the United States, showcasing her award-winning car with pride and enthusiasm. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and those she loved. She cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren, especially her dedicated hours of painting rocks and other creative activities with Katie.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two sons, Nicholas Iacoboni and his partner Tiffany Johnson of Springfield, MA, and Matthew Iacoboni and his wife Allea of Vernon; her two grandchildren, Katie and Raven; her three brothers and their spouses, Larry Cooper and his wife Pat of Columbus, OH, Chip Cooper and his wife Kathy of Scarborough, ME, and Bob Cooper and his wife Glenna of Granby; as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Rick Cooper.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, beginning at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Vernon, UCC, 695 Hartford Tpke. (Rt. 30) in Vernon. There will be no calling hours and at the request of her family, burial will be held privately. Ladd-Turkington & Carmon Funeral Home, in Vernon, are in care of her arrangements.
