Mrs. Kathleen Ann Knowlton, 73, of Winterville, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday at 4:00 PM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service.
Kathy began her nursing career as a Nurses Aid in Amherst, Massachusetts at a local nursing home. After moving to the Boston area, she earned her nursing degree and began her first job as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the Children's Hospital. Later, she took a position at the Jamaica Plain VA Medical Center where she worked in the Neurology ward. Prior to moving to North Carolina, she was employed for many years at Dedham Medical Center. Her first job in North Carolina was working for the American Red Cross here in Greenville and completed her career in nursing, providing home health care working with children on ventilators, retiring from nursing in 2014. Kathy was a member of Peace Presbyterian Church in Winterville. She was an avid reader and a cat lover which led her to donate to local animal shelters and always adopting cats from those local shelters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Evelyn Peake Watt.
She is survived by: her husband of almost 55 years, Mark Knowlton of Winterville; daughter, Amy Knowlton, husband, Kenneth Smith, and grandson, Jacob Knowlton, all of Stafford, Virginia; and sister, Michelle "Micky" Watt of Hadley, Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Wounded Warrior Project, P. O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
