Kathleen M. Sayers, lovingly known as "Kathy," passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025, in Vero Beach, Florida, at the age of 77. Born on July 20, 1947, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Grace and Leo Bly. Kathy lived a life full of purpose, compassion, and devotion to her family and students.
A lifelong lover of literature, poetry, and the written word, Kathy dedicated over three decades of her life to education as an English teacher in the St. Lucie County School District. For 35 years, she inspired countless students with her passion for language and her unwavering belief in the power of learning.
After relocating from Hialeah, Florida, Kathy made her home in Fort Pierce, Florida, where she continued to share her warmth and wisdom with all who knew her. Outside the classroom, she was known for her energetic spirit and love of exercise—especially aerobics—and her deep appreciation for a good book and thoughtful conversation.
Though Kathy achieved much throughout her life, her greatest joy came from her family, especially her grandchildren. They were her heart and her world, and she took immense pride in their lives and accomplishments. Her love and influence will continue to live on through them.
Kathy is survived by her devoted daughter, Brie (Robert) Lamb of Fort Pierce, Florida; her brothers, Leo Bly of Boca Raton, Florida, and Patrick Bly of Fort Pierce, Florida; her sister, Colleen Bly of Longwood, Florida; her cherished grandchildren, Grace Lamb, Brenden Lamb, Evan Lamb, Jared Sayers, Bailey Sayers, and Gage Sayers; and her adored great-grandchildren, Clover, Llewayn, Hannah, and Teagan.
She will be remembered for her generous heart, vibrant personality, and the way she made everyone feel seen, heard, and loved. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were blessed to know her.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Haisley Funeral Home, 3015 Okeechobee Rd., Fort Pierce, Florida, beginning at 5:00 PM. A service will follow at 6:00 PM.
