Kathleen Shurtleff Vinson, age 73, of Springville, Utah, passed away peacefully in her home on June 16, 2024. Kathy was a loving and kind wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed dearly.
Kathy was born June 19, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah and raised in Sacramento, California to parents Charlotte Amundsen Shurtleff and W. Burt Shurtleff. At an early age, Kathy learned to sew and had a passion for making clothing. Over the years, she made countless dresses for her mom, her sister and herself. She made outfits and Halloween costumes for her children and fixed and altered clothing for friends and neighbors.
Kathy graduated from El Camino High School in 1968. She attended BYU where she earned a degree in clothing and textiles and was an active participant in BYU's chapter of the Angel Flight service organization. Kathy was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where she served roles in Primary, Relief Society and Young Women. She found immense joy in serving others and making their lives easier.
BYU is where she met and married the love of her life, Don. Kathy and Don were sealed in the Provo temple. Later, they settled in Springville where they raised seven children who adored her and teased her in the most loving way possible. Kathy was a big fan of all BYU sporting events. In recent years, watching BYU sports with her son Randy became a cherished bonding experience.
Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her parents and her brother Brent. She is survived by her siblings: Steve (Nicki), Brian (Cinda), Lisa (Scott) and her children: Jennifer (Mark), Randy, Joel (Lisha), Michael, Jesse (Kimberly), Tori (Andres), David (Breanne), 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Dalton Drive Church building, (2557 Dalton Dr, Springville, Utah) at 10:00 am on June 22, 2024.
