Kathleen Ann Whitman

Kathleen Ann Whitman came into this world on January 5, 1959. Kathy, as she was lovingly known, was the first child born to Earl and Geraldine Whitman. She was quickly followed by four more siblings: David, Patty, Ken, and Pam. The family lived in several states due to Earl's career with the Navy. They settled in Norman, Oklahoma in the late 70's, and Norman became their forever home.
Kathy made several lifelong friends in the course of her life. She was deemed 'the hostess with the mostess'. Kathy invited friends and neighbors over for many watch parties. Everything from football and basketball to the Kentucky Derby. It was always a great time! She would prepare the most delicious food and partner it with a beautiful table. She was a whiz in the kitchen.
As Kathy's parents aged, they developed health issues along the way and needed some extra help. Kathy stepped in and cared for both parents until their deaths. She was an excellent caregiver. Always making sure they were comfortable and had everything they needed. Kathy and Gerry, along with Watson, the beloved family dog, would take neighborhood walks and spend time at the neighborhood pool. Gerry passed away in December 2023. She was followed soon after by her son, David. It was a tough time for the entire family. Kathy and Watson moved but stayed in Norman. She adored Watson and vice versa. He meant so much to her. He was always by her side. Unfortunately, in 2024, Kathy suffered several health setbacks. The last, landed her in the hospital. After a prolonged stay at Norman Regional, she was moved to a skilled nursing home. Her birthday was celebrated at the nursing home with family and friends, of which she had many.
Our sweet Kathy left us on January 24, 2025. She will be missed by so many people. She had the sweetest disposition, along with a kind heart, and a generous soul. This world was a better place with her in it.
