Kathleen Norene Wilson, 78, of Mount Vernon, IL, passed away at 8:40 am September 12, 2025 at River Point Health in Evansville, IN. She was born January 18, 1947 in Belleville, IL to the late Donald Lafayette Waters and Violet Louise (Thompson).
Kathleen is survived by her sons, Shawn Louis Czak and wife, Lynette of West Frankfort, IL, Shannon Wayne Wilson and significant other, Samantha Stewart of Mt. Vernon, IL; grandchildren, Zoey Wilson and her mother, Christy, Blake Czak, Caleb Czak, McKenna Kirkman, Jayden Mathews, Xavier Hernandez and Julian Mathews; great-grandchildren, Jayden Smith and Myles Smith; sister, Hilda Wright and husband, Randy of Mt. Vernon, IL; brother, Donald Eugene Waters and wife, Sally of Mt. Vernon, IL; nephews, Allen and Scott Waters; nieces, Tracie Waters and Michelle.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Wayne Waters; nephew, Michael Wayne Waters; maternal grandparents, Harvey and Rosa Thompson; and paternal grandparent, Issac & Clara Waters.
Kathleen went to Ashley Grade School and graduated from Ashley High School in 1965. She was a member of VFW (Veterans of Foreign Affairs) and Mt. Vernon Elks. She loved listening to music, being a flight attendant, traveling and enjoyed meeting people. Kathleen's dream was to become a flight attendant ever since she was in High School. She worked at Continental Tire for 27 years as a tire builder and worked for Southwest Airlines for 16 years.
A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Thomason Cemetery in Wayne City, IL with Reverend Randy Hayes officiating. Interment will follow. In Lieu of Flowers, the Wilson family humbly invites you to make a gift of love through donations. Memorials may be made in Kathleen 's honor to Alzheimer's Association.
