Kathleen Zimmerman

Kathleen Zimmerman, 87, of Whiting, NJ, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Born on February 25, 1938, in Elizabeth, NJ, Kathleen was the beloved daughter of Jack (John) and Mary Medvetz (Jurnak). She lived in Edison, NJ and then moved to Ocean Gate, NJ where she resided for 43 years. She is reunited in Heaven with her parents, her husband, Edward Zimmerman, and her sister Mary Benedetto.
Kathleen was a talented and dedicated cook who owned and operated her own catering business, Pumpkin Caters. She was also a familiar face in the bingo kitchens at both St. Joseph's and St. Pius Churches, where she served her community for many years with warmth and care. In addition, Kathleen proudly served on the Ocean Gate Planning Board and volunteered her time to work the polls on election days.
She is survived by her loving son, Jan and daughter-in-law, Karen; her cherished granddaughters, Deanna and her husband Tommy, and Dawn and her fiancé Edward; and her adored great- granddaughter, Charlotte, as well as many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews. Kathleen will be remembered for her generous heart, her love of cooking, and the deep pride she took in caring for her family. Her presence, warmth, and food brought people together, and she will be dearly missed.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 3pm to 7pm at the Carmona Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main St., Toms River, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 11am at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 33 Woodland Rd, Bayville, NJ, 08721.
