Kathlyn R. Hewitt

Kathlyn R. Hewitt, affectionately known as Kathy, 80, of Toms River, NJ, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
Kathy was born in Elizabeth, NJ, to Jack and Marie (Leary) Giegerich. She and her beloved husband, William J. Hewitt, began their married life in June 1967 in Huntington, WV, before moving to Howell, NJ, and finally settling in Toms River, where they made their home for the past 47 years.
Kathy worked as the Supervisor of Cash Control at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ, for over 30 years. She was known for her legendary sock and pajama collection, her love of peanut butter cups, an ice-cold fountain soda, and floating peacefully in the Atlantic Ocean. Kathy thrived during March Madness, following her teams with enthusiasm and precision. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Justin the Martyr Roman Catholic Church in Toms River and counted St. Joseph among her closest spiritual advisors.
Kathy will be forever held and cherished in the hearts of her loving family: her husband of 58 years, William J. Hewitt; her daughters, Mary Beth and her husband Joseph Damiri; Jennifer and her husband Mark Carpenter; Heather and her husband Rick DeBonta; Colleen and her husband Donald Klein; and her sons, Adam Hewitt, and Seth and his wife Anna Hewitt.
Known to her grandchildren as Grandma Kate and Kiki, she was adored by all ten, who thought she was the cutest grandma you could ever know. Aislin Carpenter, Haley DeBonta, Luke Damiri, Noel DeBonta, Quinn Carpenter, William Damiri, Chloe DeBonta, Harrison Klein, Grace Hewitt, and Ben Hewitt each hold cherished and special memories with their beloved grandmother.
She is also survived by her brother Jack Giegerich and her sisters Mary Virginia Dowling, Denise Phillips, and Jean Marie Giegerich, and was predeceased by her brother Paul Giegerich-all of whom she adored.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 3pm to 7pm at the Carmona Bolen Home for Funerals, 412 Main St., Toms River, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 9:30am at St. Justin the Martyr RC Church, 975 Fischer Blvd., Toms River, NJ. Interment will follow to St. Joseph Cemetery, 80 Cedar Grove Rd., Toms River, NJ.
