Kathrine Hamilton Atchley

Kathrine Hamilton Atchley, age 101, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023, at her home in Olney, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm. Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Lunn Funeral Home in Olney, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2023, at First Baptist Church Olney with Rodney Schell, executive pastor of Park Cities Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas officiating and Dr. Chad Edgington, pastor of First Baptist Church Olney, assisting. Interment will follow in Restland Cemetery in Olney under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
Kathrine was born October 21, 1921, in Olney, Texas to the late Dr. George B. Hamilton and Theola (Yates) Hamilton. She attended Hockaday School until her senior year when she returned to Olney and graduated from Olney High School. She then attended Southern Methodist University where she was a member of Tri Delta Sorority. Kathrine married Glenn Howard Atchley, Sr. on December 26, 1941, in Olney, Texas. She was baptized in 1933 at First Baptist Church Olney and has been recognized as the member with the longest active membership. She taught youth Sunday school for many years and was a longtime member of the Sanctuary Choir. She was a Camp Fire Girls leader for many years and was a member of the Amity Club. Kathrine was a founding member of Hamilton Hospital Auxiliary and she served on both the Hamilton Hospital Board of Directors and the Hamilton Hospital Foundation Board. Besides her love for her family, Hamilton Hospital was very important to her and was her greatest passion.
Kathrine was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. George B. Hamilton and Theola (Yates) Griffin; her husband, Glenn Howard Atchley, Sr.; and a son, Glenn Howard Atchley, Jr.
Kathrine is survived by her two daughters: Glenda Kay Burg of Dallas, Texas and Georgia Carol Atchley of Olney, Texas; her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Steve and Eileen Atchley of Aurora, Colorado; eight grandchildren: Donna Kay Burg of Dallas, Texas, Kathie Burg Smith of Olney, Texas, Bridgette L. Atchley of Belton, Texas, Katie Atchley Weiss of Lockart, Texas, Glenn Howard Atchley III of Copperas Cove, Texas, Amber Atchley Cokins of Lakeway, Texas, Sara Atchley Jackson of Aurora, Colorado and Jessica Atchley-Rivers of Aurora, Colorado; and eighteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by Maria Gonzalez, our beloved friend and long time caregiver for Kathrine.
