Kathryn W. Piehler

Kathryn W. "Kat" Piehler, of Wexford, PA, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on November 1, 2025 at the age of 96. She was born Katherine Arndt on November 22, 1928 in Skelton, West Virginia, the only daughter of Morris and Husie Arndt. Kat grew up in West Virginia with her six brothers. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, WV in 1947 and then moved to Dayton, OH, where she met Roland "Doc" Piehler. Kat and Doc were married on June 5, 1954. They settled in Wexford, where they raised their five children.
Kat became the matriarch of a large and loving family, hosting many memorable and joyful Christmases, Thanksgivings, and summer cookouts. She loved spending quality time with friends and family and was a supportive and loving presence for her grandchildren, who knew her as "Nanny." Kat enjoyed a great martini, and she loved to play golf and hit the casino. But her favorite place to be was on her deck, surrounded by her close-knit family.
She is survived by her five children: Paula (Steve), Kirk (Becky), Scott (Cathy), Mark (Sue), and Gary (Tion); her eleven grandchildren: Christopher (Megan), Elizabeth (Evan), Nan (Seth), Kyle, Kayla, Greg (Katie), Abbey, Reid (Emily), Brent, Tyla (Christian) and Garin (Jess); and four great-grandchildren Christian, Gabriela, Magnolia and Amos.
